In Washington State, divorce is referred to as dissolution of marriage. This means that there are no grounds for divorce other than that the marriage is irretrievably broken, and that marital fault, such as cruelty or adultery, is not a consideration in dividing community and separate property, making provisions for maintenance (alimony) when appropriate, or adopting a parenting plan.
